#gengmelayukakilima Photoshoot 2015

السلام عليكم,

So my friends and I decided to conduct a “photoshoot” after every semester, to see how much we have grew as a person. So, the first photoshoot happened after exams. My friends and I decided to have a little “photoshoot” at Punggol Waterfront area. This location was chosen after much deliberation. It was a good photoshoot, but we were not even close to prepared. So, I would like to share my experience so that you guys, who have crazy wild and spontaneous ideas like us, would note of a few things before just heading out and executing your plans. So we travelled from Pioneer North all the way to Punggol.

We parked at @Punggol and started walking to the lalang fields. So lesson one: Always bring two pair of shoes. If you are going to have your photoshoot in heels or stilettoes, you better bring a pair of slippers.  It will help. Trust me. So we walked, all the way to the lalang field, and lalang field being a lalang field, there was definitely is no proper entrance, no proper walkway, so the slippers would really help.

So, we walked further towards the heart of the lalang field, where the lalang became taller and taller, more and more. We simply stride our way in and started pushing the lalang apart. So, here comes lesson number two: Wear satin material clothing. This will reduce the number of pointy pointy stuff that clings on you and cause you to feel itchy. Believe me. You would not want to pose with a lot of that pointy pointy stuffs sticking on your clothes.

So soon, we found ourselves in the perfect spot. We put down our bags and started getting ready for the shoot. We started looking at each other. We were clueless on what to do. So, listen up. This is lesson three and four.  Do not bring a lot of unnecessary stuff, because you will end up having to leave you valuables unattended while you are busy taking photos and plan on how you want the shoot to be, like literally how you want it to be such as the position, pose and all. It should not be done on the day itself. It will save a lot of time if you have pre-planned it earlier.

So we took a lot of time, trying to settle ourselves with a few pose. It was indeed quite challenging to be working with nature and us (who did not prepare at all) Lesson five, if you are going to have a photoshoot outdoor, do remember to bring insect repellent too as there will definitely be mosquitoes and other bugs. So after about 15 minutes, we started scratching frantically. In addition to all the scratching, the weather was hot. We were perspiring like pigs. So here is lesson six. Always bring tissue around or a handkerchief. You would not want to look as if you are crying in photos.  So please, get yourself handkerchief.

So after scratching and perspiring, we were greeted by dark clouds and weird sounds. Here is lesson seven. If you here weird loud sounds, and there is not construction happening around you, run for the shelter immediately. True enough, heavy rain poured on us. This is where slippers will come in handy. I ran in platform though.  Lesson eight would be bringing umbrella at all times, because you do not know how near the near-by shelter is. For all you know, you would have to complete 2.4 km in less than 5 minutes. This brings us to lesson number nine. Check the weather forecast if you are planning to have an outdoor photoshoot.  It would help.

So, it continued to rain and we had to keep our cameras as we do not want our cameras to get wet. This brings us to lesson number 10 which is the last lesson, which is to always have a plan B, which is the wet weather plan. We eventually stood there, waiting for the rain the stop. By the time the rain stopped, we were tired and not in the mood to continue our photoshoot. So we walked back to @Punggol and headed home.

However, it was a great day, filled with many learning experiences and life lessons which I am sharing with you guys. Although it was a gloomy day for a photoshoot, we did get some nice photos. So, hooray.
